Established in 1983, 174 Trust is a charity group aiming to provide a local Christian witness without denominational bias or sectarian prejudice.
Building a Strong, Just & Peaceful Society
Since our creation we have sought to serve the local community of North Belfast, as well as the whole city, through the provision of a safe, shared space where difficult conversations can occur and people of all ages and backgrounds can access a range of programmes and activities.
Shared Space & Community Ethos
The opening of the Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts in May 2014 has provided a base for 174 Trust to fulfil our aims and objectives. As an award-winning facility, it has made a vital contribution towards the cultural, social, political and economic rebirth of this part of the city.
The Duncairn has been invaluable in showcasing, supporting and developing the work of emerging local artists, and continues to grow with each new month. The shared space and community ethos of the centre has provided a place for 174 Trust groups and projects to expand and develop, helping us to accomplish our goal of Building a Strong, Just & Peaceful Society.
With the launch of our ambitious new five-year Strategic Plan, we are in a confident position to face the undoubted challenges – both political and economic – and continue to make our unique contribution to the creation of a peaceful, tolerant and inclusive society.
